Kindergarten & Pre-School
Glasgow and Edinburgh
At approximately two and a half years to three years of age, the nursery key worker will introduce your child to kindergarten. This gives your child the opportunity to get to know new staff and their new surroundings, allowing the transition from nursery to kindergarten to go as smoothly as possible.
It is important that the Kindergarten environment reinforces positive behaviour. To this end, curriculum plans are developed which will include a variety of learning activities and experiences to meet the identified needs of your child.
A settling procedure, built through care, understanding, patience and time will eventually prepare your child for the final transition feeling safe and happy, from Kindergarten to School.
Our 3-5 rooms are typically set out into different areas such as Role Play Area, Creative Area, Snack Area, ITC Area, Writing Area, Story Area, and Construction Area. This ensures the children’s learning is challenged in different ways. Staff closely follow the Scottish Executive’s Curriculum Framework for Children 3–5 guidelines, and encourage partnership with parents and learning at home through our reading programme.
