Language
As of September 2011, Small World nurseries will be rolling out a language programme for all the children in our 3-5 rooms.
A recent review by the Charles Darwin University highlighted the importance and benefits of additional from a young age.
“There is also a growing body of evidence suggesting that there are cognitive, social and educational benefits for children exposed to two languages from early in life,”
We agree with this and have introduced 10-week courses, initially with Spanish, then German, French and Italian. The children will learn greetings, colours, numbers, etc. We will follow this up with a 4-week course with mixed languages from across the world for the children to learn.
